Sicilian Resorts Evacuated As Etna Erupts (Sep, 2001)

On southern Italy's island of Sicily, the government has declared a state of emergency as ash and lava spew from the Mount Etna volcano. Europe's largest active volcano has been erupting since July the 13th. The city of Catania's airport is closed and some tourist resorts have been evacuated, but most nearby villages are still occupied.
