1. And the major factor in the eventual success of those new car lines will be the effectiveness of the advertising campaigns behind them. And while a great deal of advertising is forgotten as soon as it ends, Jeanne Moss reports on some that made viewers stay and watch.

2. The stars of this show range from an ill-fated cow to an angry chicken. And the Andy’s sleek silhouette was everywhere.

“Andy is an acronym for Ad New York, jumbled up.”

3. You probably recognize some of the Andy winners, for instance, the guy getting dragged by a cursor, or the IKEA ad with the lamp taken out like trash, left to sit out in the rain after it’s been replaced.

“None of you feel bad for this lamp. That is because you are crazy. It has no feelings.”

4. Each ad has a title. This Andy winner done for Fox Sports is called “dumpster.” Some of the edgier ads have never aired in the US. Reminiscent of a popped cork this ad for X-Box Video Games is called “Champaign.” The ad features 7 actors ranging in age from 9 month to 65 years. Seem a little morbid to you? Well in England, “it created a lot of contr(a:영국발음상)versy.”

5. Contraversy, controversy, whatever you call it, several of the winners were no strangers to it, then are too racy for American TV. Japanese TV advertised itself by inviting viewers to step into another world. The top Andy Awards, known as the Grandy, went to a whimsical spot called “Square” for a car that’s not.

6. The Andy Awards got a little randy. Nike’s ad called “Streaker”. After Nike released Streaker, Reebok came up with a counter-ad in which the streaker is struck. But it’s the original ad that won the Andy continuing Nike’s winning-streak-(er). Jeanne Moss, CNN, New York
